TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan, and Daniel Kahneman.
TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to given rules and regulations.)
TEDxUdsm
Is an annual single-day independently locally organized licensed TED conference event, that hosts a series of speakers, each presenting a well-crafted TEDx talk to a carefully curated audience of 100 thinkers, creators, and doers. We strive to integrate Dar es salaam Universities’ core values of constant evolution, resilience, adapting, advancement in unique fields, and interdisciplinary experimentations which spans across the globe and infuse Tanzania’s local and international fabric.
OUR INITIATIVE
The elegant and colorful vision of bringing the Tanzanian community to the international spotlight showing the world what Tanzanians are doing to make a difference in their country and the world at large. As we are in a rapidly changing world where we face a lot of challenges, Tanzanians are taking amazing initiatives to build a better society for the current and the next generation. It is then we challenge ourselves to bring these individuals to the spotlight so as they can channel their ideas, visions, and experiences to other Tanzanians and the world so that others can be aspired and inspired to make the world a better place.
